Impacts of 2011 on me  
Disclaimer - purely a biased view on my life

                The year began spiritual, i remember vaguely spending the first 20 days in Melmaruvathur, indulging myself in spiritual services. Meantime i was in touch with ANB Team on my job offer, i was supposed to join 19th, but as i was in the midst of this and my responsibilities refrained me from joining on the foretold date. Well, i did get an extension and joined 24th of Jan finishing off my duties back there.


January, i'd call this a payback period of my life. I felt my deeds were answered and i also counted the easy made money of **** (Not much, yet meant something; first official paycheck i guess) for surfing through for the first six days :) 


February - Rested a bit, gathered some books, the month wasn't much fun or interesting, but it did pass by.


March through June - Reminded me of my diploma college days, such a tight schedule. Was probably working on Saturdays and occasionally Sundays as well. My favorite timepassers - Movies and Books were far for my sight. Frustration, cussing, criticisms, inevitable verbal thrashes, higher ups questioning, whew these were my crucial days of the year.

July - again, some time to rest back, i'd blog about movies n stuff. Started winding up from work early, leaving my colleagues to gasp is that the Workaholic signing off for the day this early!!!

Did i mention I started watching movies, i was closely getting back to FORM while i came across some good books.

August - Another payback period, this was more like a BONANZA or so. Was awarded for my devotion to work in my office, got the confirmation (i was quite whelmed, NO MORE a TRAINEE, dono why i hated the very notion "You are a FRESHER!"), also realized that getting the confirmation will give you "TWO MONTHS OF NOTIFICATION PERIOD" before you are being fired up! 

September - This was a payback for the payback, i was so close to cuss myself for accepting the award given away at office (padupaveenga, Rs 500'ku gift voucher kuduthuttu, 5000'ku selavu vechutaanga!!! :( ) gave away treat for no reason/ or more reason like "Award" "Confirmation" "Birthday" (despite the fact I don't celebrate it; I was surprised to hear a colleague of mine saying "You don't celebrate, so what, we celebrate") 

October - Was quite a hot shot among colleagues for the first couple of weeks until I drenched myself fully back to work. But managed to save some time for movies and obviously books as well.


November & December - as the year comes to a closure, wanted to spend the time valuable. Started preparing for a certification am taking up the beginning of 2012. Tensions that can't be unveiled at workplace. Thinking back what it was like last year same time, it was spiritual, I really did miss that, but occasionally stopped by there just to be grateful

A magical Christmas

A magical Christmas

                This evolves around two families facing tyranny at different periods. In 1860's, Christmas time, during Civil war in Florida, a commanding officer dies to meet his family and his girl when he's about to be hanged, especially because they had parted with a fight last. The other is late 1980's in Virginia, the family is falling apart and decides to spend their last Christmas together in an Oak river plantation in South Florida.

Something magical reveals as the latter family moves to Oak River Plantation which is were the former family resided back at the time of Civil War

The flashbacks portray the gruesome civil war, where the red coats face gray coats, sons marching against their own fathers, friends helplessly killing each others in the name of patriotism, none being merciful, women losing sons, husbands and their beloved ones. 


The present family is mad at each other, kids hate their father. Mother as well hates the father as he doesn't help him in the daily chores and always make excuse when it comes to responsibility. While the father is angry at himself for not being able to spend some quality time as his attorney job keeps him busy always. He hates his job firsthand and is sticking onto it so that he can feed his feed his family well and give his kids quality education. But he's angry that his family doesn't care for what he does and he is just being protective for the families sake.  When it comes to demise, he proposes one last family vacation for this Christmas and maybe he could get a second chance, only to find that he's making it worse...

P.S. I ♥ You

P.S. I ♥ You - sometimes you have to live life one LETTER at a time...

                Holly, a recent & a young widow, tries to overcome from what she has undergone. She feels like the world has stopped evolving for her. She loads herself with Tea at small hours and spends her days sobbing remembering the sweet memories from the past, what she has done with him which she will be doing henceforth without him, the silly quarrels over turning  off the night lamps, and so on.

She discovers that her beloved Gerry (her husband) has left some letters behind for her , instructing her to do things she'd never have had the courage to do, and that in specific-after her loss.

Gerry's letter guides her to be a sober for the first month stating there is nothing bad to cry! It helps you overcome… and did I mention that he had also instructed that Holly is supposed to unwrap one letter at a time for every following month. She obeyed him and did read letters, one every month. She would wait for the bell to tick past 12:00 for her to read the next letter. The much she was excited the more were her close friends Demise and Sharon as well. They'd call up at midnight on the first day of the month to know what Gerry had left for her.

All seemed to work for the first couple of months, but later people started moving on. She was no more the center of attraction amidst her family and friends. While she was still in grieving period, her friend Sharon had been knocked up! This was shocking as Sharon had always hated kids. Demise too contributed her part by accepting the marriage proposal from a DJ whom she had hardly known over a couple of months. The more astounding fact was Demise was always attracted to men, but never ever wanted to commit. Holly feels like the whole world is falling apart.

Will Gerry guide her through this thorn path, and how long! What will she do after all the 10 letters Gerry left her are extinguished! Will she cope up with the other people moving on, will she ever be able to discover TRUE LOVE again!!! Find out in Cecilia Ahern's P.S. I Love You

Something learnt,

I always thought that the so called TRU LOVE exists only in books and movies, after this I have checked off the BOOKS from the list, leaving out just the movies!!!

Haa haa, just kidding… anyways here is what I learnt from Cecilia Ahern's-  P.S. I Love You

Susie salmon was murdered; she watches over her family and friends from heaven; despite all her dreams come true in heaven, she envies the living ones for all that she had missed were being lived by the ones alive herein earth.

Was quite convinced throughout that the murderer would be brought to justice after quite some scrutinization of happenings from the past. But then, by the end understood that there is more to mere justice – something practical and painful. “How to MOVE ON!”

Something learnt,

I sometimes wonder, why did this happen to me and am sure each and every one of us have asked this “Why me?”

Well, there is no logical reasoning to do here. You simply need to accept the incontrovertible and live upto it!

The Lovely Bones - So far

The Lovely Bones

                Susie Salmon, the victim of child molestation watches over from heaven her family move on after her unexpected death. It’s a very dramatic portrayal of heaven over earth. She watches over her sister experiencing all those adolescent trauma and pleasure she had missed. She watches it all – her mother brooding over the past; father slowly turning into a cop, intruding peoples life like a bounty hunter does crazy thing for bounty; the lazy cops referring her a ‘case’ ignoring the fact she was once alive; neighbors advising theirs kids, referring her as a Case Study; her first crush who also happened to be the last, hit on other girls, she watches everything single thing.

The author has shed some light on how humans sense tremulous voice of ghosts while their soul separates their torsos. The individuals perspective on the loss. The guilty is wandering free un-assaulted, planning on his next venture. Who might be the next? Will Salmon be able to intrude or will she remain helpless pressing hands wondering what to do!
